I will admit that even with all the crashes I experienced, things like FOSE and places like Fallout3nexus made this one of my favorite games of all time. I have such high hopes for New Vegas.
Bug with saves disabling mods? I've had plenty of savegame related bugs but never one that disabled mods. And I run 70+ of them.

Bethesda is still the producer, and they're providing technical knowhow on the game engine since Obsidian is reusing Gamebryo. Obsidian is just building the game.

As a result Bethesda is the bunch in charge of DRM. Making the choice they made tells me they actually care about their honest customer.

Not that the save disabled any mods just that if you have a save game with a mod, disable the mod, then load and save that same game (without first turning the mod back on) it could cause crashes/ bugs/ weird glitches with your saved game. This was posted somewhere on nexus forums a while ago that this was due to the fact that modding the game was put it at the last second and people who don't make/ code a mod properly (i.e. complete what it does when you load it/ unload it) causes this problem.

An example of this would be when I installed a new location, saved my game, uninstalled the same location, saved it, loaded it up and every time I would go near the spot where the new location was supposed to be my game would crash. I made a new save, went back to the spot and everything was fine. Put the mod back and removed it again and the same thing happened every time. With a lot of trial and error (and close to a thousand saved games later) I was able to get a list of mods I knew would work without conflict and I just had to worry about listening to the Radio because of the alchemy bug. But this game is so worth the effort when you mod it out so It was worth the time wasted.

Steam is awesome! You can't beat their cheap deals that pop up every week or so

Very good news. I will add this game to my list of future purchases.

That sounds more like a PEBKAC issue with either the mod developer, the user, or both. Not a limitation of or bug in the game engine.

Or you could not be an idiot and don't get phished. But even if you do somehow get hacked it's simple to recover it. Just start a Steam support ticket with proof you bought at least one game on the account and you're golden. The account will be returned to you.

Strange....I could have sword every Valve game was available on store shelves, complete with the box and DVD you think means the game is now worth buying..the box and DVD you use once and never touch again because Steam frees you of the need to fiddle with those damn things...and this is the case with most other Steamworks games. Including this one.

Stop being an idiot. You still get the box and DVD. Hell if you buy the collector's edition like I'm going to you also get some goodies besides a lame-ass DVD and box.

I don't mind Steam and the absence of GFWL is a +, but will there be mods?

Also, I couldn't help but take this opportunity to stick it to Ubi on their forum. http://img813.imageshack.us/f/ubiforumraid.jpg/

Good, because modding is what made me play Fallout 3 8 times in a row.
