So, I have a friend who has two GTX 285's and they just "died", apparently windows doesn't recognizes them and they don't work on other rigs either :/.

Do you think that baking them can help? the GPU's have no warranty whatsoever and she's gonna get a GTX 260 for backup so...

what do you guys say? at what temps? for how long?

I've had a lot of success with baking, well just 2 laptop motherboards.

385F for 10mins works for me.

The problem is that she doesn't wants to try it :S

she's just telling me "forget about it, I'll get new GPU's, it's not a big deal for me" but I'm telling her that there might be a solution, besides, they don't have warranty anymore and IMO it's better to try that than storing them in the closet and let them collect dust .

They're really good GPU's and I think it's worth to try it.

LOL that's what I've been trying last night, but she just doesn't wants to :/

Does baking really works? have there been cases where it didn't do anything?

what are the odds of fixing them with this process?

Only works if the problem is the hardware. Might just be a software conflict.

Poeple keep saying it works, so just try it. If she doesn't want to do it, tell her to give you the cards and you keep them and do what you want with them.
