Ok I'm slightly panicked...

Thread Starter
I was running Prime for about 20 mins and I came back to see my machine was off.

When I try booting, the machine goes on for a fraction of a second and then turns off. I have to unplug the AC and then try again to get that.

My loop was still running, so I don't think it was heat. Although I was running 1.5vcore and 1.35cpunb with 1.7 on kingston value ram default 1.6.

Any suggestions?

Remove all but 1 stick of ram and clear cmos. Then try to start her up and see what happens.

Done. No go. No RAM at all. No go.

So I swap out the power supply, and stuff is staying on.

So my power supply went. Now the question is, did it take anything with it?

How about it? Do they generally do? I just bought the 1055 last Wednesday!

Throw a new power supply in and see what happens. That's about all you can do. I generally don't leave my machine alone when I run Prime95. But at least you got it figured out.

Is everything working? If so, then you're fine If not, then you need to methodically swap parts to weed out the good from the bad.

I think you blew a mosfet bigs, I took a look at your board and it doesn't seem to have any mosfet cooling, smell around the mosfet area and tell us if you smell a burnt smell, if you do, then you gotta rma the board.

Well I was able to keep the mobo on with another power supply. I don't smell anything close to the mosfets.

Well, I need to pick up a power supply short notice. This is what I've narrowed it down to based on price only.

THERMALTAKE TR2 W0319RU 850W $124
OCZ GAMERXSTREAM 700W $118
CORSAIR TX-750 750WATTS $122

I say take the TT based on output, but I appreciate your suggestions.

Ultra LSP750 from Tiger Direct. Great power supply at a great price. Lots of cables so cable management is a must. Lifetime warranty. Single rail 45A.

Uh... Out of the three, I'd grab the corsair, the ocz is nice but not the best, and the thermaltake according to reviews is "something to be avoided at all costs."

EDIT: I guess I sort of put the wrong emphasis on my previous post.
The ultra is a fine unit but their quality isn't as great as corsair's, its not a bad choice if you're on a budget.
