Suggest me a game to get

Thread Starter
I currently own cod4 and fallout 3 goty. I only have about 4 hours into fo3 goty so I have a long time left ahead of me. I just want something other then a shooter to play so it kinda balances out. I want to play BC2 but I know that game will not run good on my rig from what ive heard you need a quad core and a good gpu which I have neither lol.

I play at 1280x720 without aa and af. I never could justify the framerate drop I get when using for the little improvement in visual quality. For example I play Fo3 at 1280x720 no aa no af and the setting clicked on high. I use vsync and my framerate never goes below 60 with my rig in sig. I know my pc sucks compared to what is out now a days but it plays cod4 maxxed out and fo3 on high and they run butter smooth.

I just need something to hold me over until cod black ops comes out. I was thinking maybe grid as its only $20 or NFS shift its $39 I think. I dont like dirt 2 as im not a rally game playing kind of guy, I'll watch rally on tv but I dont like playing it at all and I dont know why I just dont enjoy it one bit.

I need something with either a long story or great multiplayer online. Id like a racing game or dirtbike/ atv game but I am open to all other games as long as its not a rpg, I have fo3 for that and im trying to not get a shooter as I play cod4 for thats.

Thanks in advnace everyone and please try to keep my rig in your mind when you suggest a game, my res is low but it does play fo3 and cod4 butter smooth due to my low res. I do plan on buying a core i5 or core i7 quad and a new video card this xmas, i'll switch to 1156 or 1366 depending on which one is cheaper but thats a while away and I have to make due for now,

if you like puzzle games, world of goo is phenomenal and can be played on almost any computer... battlefield heroes is a blast too and also is very easy on the average pc

hope that helped!

Dirt 2 is not really a rally game. its VERY arcade. it has rally bits (again in an arcade stlye) and most of the time are plane races.

the multiplayer for dirt 2 is VERY fun.

i prefer NFS Shift over Dirt 2 for the single player.

shift balances simulation and arcade in a very good way. most people didnt like it because they were expecting a "underground" type game.

for me its the best NFS in a long time.

anyhow, the multiplayer for dirt 2 is more fun.

once that has been said. there are PLENTY of "cheap" games you can play. just to name a few: monkey island SE, max payne 1 and 2, deus ex, half life series (its FPS but very good), maybe even bioshock.

you gould get Batman arkham asylum. its on sale right now on steam, and its a VERY good game.

its very hard to recommend a game if you dont say what kind of game you wanna play.

EDIT:
http://www.g2play.net/store/Counter-...Steam-Key.html

Counter-Strike 1.6
Counter-Strike Steamworks Beta
Half-Life
Day of Defeat
Deathmatch Classic
Half-Life: Blue Shift
Opposing Force
Ricochet
Team Fortress Classic

for only 4 euros. GREAT deal.

i bought it myslef not long ago.

Borderlands, ME 1 and 2, Bioshock

If you're looking for racing games, GRID or DiRT 2 would be just fine

EDIT-If I can run Battlefield:BC2 at medium around 30 FPS, there is no reason you can't either... and for a game at medium, it still looks darn good

then get NFS shift or Dirt 2.

NFS Shift:

YouTube- Need for Speed Shift Review
thats a very accurate review of the game.

BUT the dirt 2 online is much more fun than Shifts.

really its your call. you should just try them out and see for yourself wich one your preffer.

See what ive been told is that you really need a quad to run this as the physics are really demanding on the cpu

I heard the same thing...it pushes my laptop, but it still plays well

EDIT-1366x768 res, thinking 2x AA but it has been awhile since I last played it

EDIT 2-Opened the game real quickly, and since I saw no setting, I figure I am running default AA and AF, whatever that may be

I used to run it on a system similar to yours on MED + DX9 and get 35+fps. It was at a higher res too.
