Pressing the AC current switch or whatever that thing is on the back of some PSUs whilst the computer is on. "What does this button do?" KABOOM.

Upgrading from an Athlon64 X2 4600+ to an AMD Phenom II x4 instead of getting an Intel i7 920 or even waiting for the i5 750.

Oh, also forgetting to plug in the front panel headers and thought my motherboard was toast because it wouldn't turn on.

*TRUE STORY*

Built a PC and nearly lost my finger! Went to move the case from the floor to the desk for easier access. (had already begun to plug in power and everything.. PC was fully built.)

Picked up the case normally, accidentally tapped the power button while my index finger was kind of wrapped inside the rear 120mm 2500rpm fan. Luckily... that fan just so happened to be DOA.

After that, I went and played basketball I was so happy.

I spent a day dremeling away my case to get to the HDD cage in an HP OEM case only to realize that there was a little latch to swing it out.

Forgetting to secure cpu on the mobo and it fell out when transferring the mobo to the case. In that process i had bent couple pins, i used a mechanical pencil to bend them back and all was good as no pins were broken off. It fit in snuggly on the motherboard and posted luckily phew! This happened with the system i have now

Pretty scary but you would have walked away with a "Damn that kind of hurt". I accidentally hit my finger on a fan going at 2500rpm and it hurt but didn't even scratch any skin off. Besides, the fan wouldn't suddenly turn on at 2500rpm.

Follow up. I figured a pic of this waste of time was necessary:

I spent hours dremeling the thick as hell metal a mm from my mobo behind that HDD cage to get to the damn screw holding the HDD in because I needed to swap it.

See that little metal tab with an arrow etched next to it with the word TAB in the cage? Yeah, that pulls out and the whole HDD cage swings out so add/remove drives.

I also wasted time dremeling out the PSU area to fit a full ATX PSU in that tiny ass case.

Good times.
