The final release is much more optimized than the benchmark. I think it's a fantastic game and doesn't run bad at all.
My 470 beats its head into a wall trying to run it with Physx and everything maxed, its was jumpy, which was probably from the 28 fps I was getting average, and the 16 fps I'm getting when the room is warm with the water on the walls.

That is unoptimized. Scoping into dust should NEVER cause a slowdown like that. If anything it should speed up the system since much less of the scene needs to be rendered.
Absolutely not.

The same scene is still being rendered and smoke particles are placed on top of the scene. This is how the smoke effect is rendered in every game unless you cheat and don't really use smoke but an solid image of smoke. Smoke effects are relatively graphically intensive as there are so many particle points

What game has improved FPS when there is smoke effects? Do you remember what smoke grenades did in CS:S?

Only game I can think of is Crysis.

It's got good details, but:

Only good texture is the gun and hand. The ground, trees, hills, and boxes look like crap. The concrete and metal is ok I guess. 40fps, on an OC'd 5850 at 1600*1200 (between 1680*1050 and 1920*1080 resolution) with 2xAA and maxed.

Other scenes can look quite good, but doesn't mean it's at all optimized. Games like BC2 often have better scenes than that, with higher fps and more AA.

Metro 2033, Just Cause 2, GTA IV and Bad Company 2. None of those are pretty enough to justify the systems needed to run them at 60FPS.

Yeah they fixed the physics for the most part. The game should run great for you. It's a pretty good game when it's patched up.

Can't remember if it was on or not. If there is an in game option then yes I do. That's not my complaint though.

It's the fact that some scenes look great, some scenes (like the one above) look like crap, for low fps.

You should be able to run BC2 at 60fps, unless your CPU bound.

GTA IV, Every STALKER game (These two self explanatory), Devil May Cry 3, and Resident Evil 4.

DMC has a control setup that is simply horrid. They expect you to use a gamepad, not taking into account the fact that most gamers prefer keyboard and mouse.

RE4 because they neglected to use the mouse. How can you have what is essentially a third person shooter without using the mouse to aim and shoot?
