E2200 running to hot?

Thread Starter
I decided to stress test my CPU when I overclocked it to 3.00GHz with one of my high end emulators.

Its like 39-40c idle but it jumps to like, 75c while playing games and stuff
Any help?

One assumes you have stock cooler on it?

Does it sound like the fan is spinning up when you have been running it harder for a little?

Yes I have a stock fan. This OC is unstable...I tested it on OCCT linpack and I couldn't get pass 58 mins without me getting a BSOD...I upped the voltage a little, lets see if that helps.

if that doesn't work, apply new thermal paste and re-seat the HSF properly

Yeah, I would go with voltages too.

Running at 75 is not enough to TJ the chip, unless the program is reading incorrect temps.

Make sure you do NB and CPU voltages, possibly up the clock if the NB. i am not too sure what the chip/board wants for successful running.

So I would porbably suggest dropping your clock first, say 2.5? Not sure what the chip is stock. But once you have stable 2.5 try 2.6/2.7/2.75 and keep slowly going up making sure you are stable at the clocks you have set.

Upping the voltage is going to make it run even hotter, if you get 75C while gaming I hate to see what stress test temps are at. I'd clock it back down a bit until you can replace the cooler with an aftermarket one. If you're on a budget, the Cooler Master Hyper 212+ is great, and if you've got more to work with, Prolimatech Megahalems or the Corsair H50 are always popular.

tj max is something like 90c i believe.

but i would still be concerned with those temps. if you havent reseated in a while, do so. i'd also look into a better cooling yeah.

upping the vcore will just make it run hotter so you'll bsod before you pass any stability test
