I'd say that is about right.

one has to remember that the card is doing almost, not quite, but almost 3* more than usual.

I will try it on my 5970 Eyefinity later on in the week and see what she gets for a sort of comparison.

Depending on board it may matter, some older boards had the first slot at x16 and second at 4 or some such...I always make sure my first slot has my card, with newer boards it may not matter just what I understand happened on older ones, and as for an overclock...i cant say safe speeds but from what I read before your core clock will affect performance more than mem clocks

Na, as long as it is a x12 slot is it fine.

I am stuck using a x8 slot right now as the case I have does not give the room needed for the massive 30CM of card.

I will be getting a Haf X soona as they are out, but for now I will let you know.

And I cannot remember exctly, but I think I idle 40ish. but that might just be down the auto underclock that the card does when it is not being used much.

But yeah, I will get some temps and stuff so you can compare later. At College for the next few hours.

He said that it is a x16 port. He was asking if it made a difference as to which one would be best to use.

And like I said, the answer is not. choose the one that will give best air flow.

I have had my 5970 upto 1000MH/z clock and 1.2 RAM. It was not that stable because I did not manage to get the voltages correct, but I would say you shoudl easily be able to hit that, and I think I have seen 1.1 core speeds. But I do not know what volts you will need for that, and on stock it will be quite warm, so get the old fan controllers out.

A 5870 is safe up to 1.35 voltage, Preferring Core clocks above memory. I had mine at 1020 / 1250 for a while
