We, humans, won't notice a thing unless it's related to us close enough that the species who enjoyed eating snakes die as well.
Thats not the point. It only takes one to go and let the downfall begin. Take the typical BEE, If they drop off the face of the earth we are in trouble unless we wish to go round pollinating everything lol

The system isn't that weak. Things would adapt naturally until it's stable again. No snakes might mean more rodents, but then eagles and stuff are more happy and eat more. Their populations grow and make up for the loss of snakes in that regard. Whatever feeds on snakes will find food in something else, etc. The only place it's worrisome is with bugs or plankton because it's so low on the chain and inflexible, but they'll never go away.

I should read up on this kind of stuff, it's pretty interesting.

The bee is one of those close to us.

It's very hard to replace those but that's also why we (in our country) started massively protecting bee hives. (Since the global decline in 1999)

Technically every specie that goes extinct, close to the lower bottom of the food chain, will have a far bigger effect. But snakes are fairly high up there, I can't think of many animals that would eat a tasting poisonous snake or risk getting strangled, although there are a lot of non-venomous, non-constrictor snakes.

Only ~18% of snakes in the US are venomous. I think the media and people's delusions make it appear like all snakes are dangerous.

I think it would be cool to have a resident garter snake on my property, unless of course he started shedding and urinating inside my house. Then that would be a problem. Better than a mouse though.

I'd certainly want more snakes than mice or squirrels (assuming snakes eat small rodents) because most rodents are a menace to society. Hell, I'd rather have a snake live in my house than a colony of mice.
My girlfriend cannot see a snake at any distance without screaming. Snakes are no more disgusting, or pests, or scary than roaches, rodents, and spiders. My girlfriend gets extremely annoyed with my unwillingness to kill the above.
