It was already stated that a nuclear detonation is not an option by the gov't. What do you expect BP to do? Go ask Iran or North Korea for some nukes?

Actually, I was thinking they ask Russia.

And the administration flips and flops on every "Not an Option" they pronounce. It's a long shot but I would not rule out the nuclear option. If indeed the seabed is leaking and there is no way to stop the leak what else can be done?

Russia nuking the coast of the US...that would be a stretch.

I agree. But is the US Goverment really going to go to BP for advice on when and how to use the nuke underwater? It will be their own contigency plan, not BP's.

And if the seabed is indeed leaking, hopefully whatever is done will work and not make the situation worse...

The relief wells are the end solution - they will reduce the pressure of the main well 'when' they intersect it.

BP Linky

The 'solutions' tried so far were only designed to contain the oil until the relief wells have been drilled.

TBH, I think its too late. Well not entirely too late, but the damage is done, whatever they try will be a stretch and even so I expect it to be weeks before anything is done...what have they accomplished so far?

According to that pic the wells were started earlier than I remembered. Yay!

From some of what I read it depends on the geology of the rock. A nuke could make things far worse under the right conditions. Also they might release vast quantities of frozen methane hydrates which some scientists warn could be a nightmare.

This is a small example of what can happen when a gas that is held under temperature and pressure is released. And this is a small lake, think of something like this on a oceanic scale.

The foul language in the source is not an interview, it was a reply made by the poster of that video in your source to a poster on a website. Maybe it'd just be best to only link the video.
