Try to keep temps under 55C. So try to reseat and get some MX-2, Shin Etsu or Coollab Liquid Pro TIM.
60c is not hot for full load lol

Are you 100% sure that nothing on the board is blocking it from seating all the way? Problem with the Mugen 2 (the reason I went back to BARAM) is that the heatpipes are very low and get in the way of everything (VRMs, caps). It would only need to be touching something slightly to prevent it going completely down...just a thought.

thanks for the clues.

i tried applying pressure on the Scythe Mugen 2 to improve contact while on full load,
temp doesn't change.
i think the contact is very good, as i replaced the original Scythe screws by ones with a longer thread, so that i'm able to thighten the contact a bit more.
i also don't think that slightly too much thermal paste is any problem,
it is pressed out a little at the sides when tightening cooler contact.
also grain size would leave the edges and corners non-covered of thermal paste,
that isn't good or is it ?

can anybody please give some info, if the corners and edges being non-covered by thermal paste is to be desired, or bad ?

Doesnt really matter, as the heating takes palce mostly in the center.

A grain size drop always worked for me. You can apply to test, take it off and then do it final.

I tell you its not seated properly! Put some MX-2 and re-seat it.

As long as the center is covered, it's alright.

The edges receive minimal heat.
