F.E.A.R. problems

Thread Starter
Hello.

I am having some issues whilst playing F.E.A.R.

When I let the game "auto-detect" the settings, the game is barely playable...really choppy.

I changed the settings to medium, and it would run okay for about 2 or 3 minutes, and then it would become unplayable.

Also, when I run the game on the "auto detect" settings, there are these weird blades of color protruding out of the characters back like some kind of bizarre growth of color. My card is not overclocked much, I think it is up to 375 from 350 and the mem clock is 1000

What the hell is going on? I figured I would be able to play this game pretty smoothly.

Every other game runs beautifully, BF2...Doom 3, FarCry...

I am selling my card and buying a 7800gt next week, but I have never had an issue like this....

I have had some wierd things happen to me with it too. I fixed it by taking my clockspeed down some. You can see if that works for as well

Thats odd. That 6800Gt should be able to handle the game. Mine ran FEAR just fine. My 7800GT really handles it fine. You'll be happy when you get one too. Do you have the latest Forceware driver from nVidia's website?

It could be two things: Power Supply may be going bad or Video Card maybe overheating/going bad.

Personally though, I think that 400W PSU is not going to cut it, F.E.A.R is one hell of a demanding game. I couldn't run F.E.A.R with my CPU at stock voltage, I had to up it to 1.46v.......I played UT2K4 fine with the stock Vcore while the CPU was @ 4.23ghz.

With my GS everything is automatically set to the highest possible level but at 1024x768, and I do mean the highest. Sux though, F.E.A.R doesn't have a 1280x1024 res. available, which is what I played all my games at.

i have a problem. when in the game i will be moving aroung but then all of a sudden, mostly during combat, it seems that computer takes control and when i try to turn, shoot, walk, etc. it happens after i get control back. let me try to make more sense of that. lets say im walking foreword, then i turn left with the mouse, well it doesnt turn left right away, it takes a second or so. this doesnt happen all the time, but still happens a lot. if you know what im talking about can you help?

The game is hitching probably because you either have the texture settings up to high for your video card to handle, you don't have enough ram, or you don't have enough virtual memory. Please click on the tab at the top of the page labeled User CP then go to system specs and fill them out so that we will be more able to help you.
