I have had the opposite results on 3 different coolers in the same case. The bottom line is that any difference between the two pastes is so small so it really boils down to tube size and price.
To apply the paste on your parts, you must put a rice grain sized drop in the center of the CPU, and put your CPU cooler directly on top of it. Do not spread it, this would cause air bubbles which will reduce heat transfer. Make sure your CPU and CPU cooler look brand new before applying the TIM. Clean it off with high percentage alcohol or ArctiClean. Use cotton swabs and tooth picks for the small gaps in the CPU socket.
