Dead EVGA GTX 295, HELP!

Thread Starter
Alright, so I'm probably boned, but I have to at least try and get some help with this.

My 295 has been running at temps in excess of 100 degrees celcius, even with the fan at 100% for the past couple of weeks. Games have been crashing, locking up my whole system, the whole nine yards. I am starting to get worried, I have been cleaning it out with a compressed air can a few times in the past month to no avail. Normally, I would have just RMA'ed it and gotten a fresh one, but I already had to RMA a 295 before because it would not display for some reason. My warranty is out and I felt I needed to preserve this any way I could.

I looked online, found a pretty legit guide about how to take my card apart and clean it, even apply some new thermal paste to the card while I was at it. It went together flawless and I felt like I had a successful experience until I put the card back in and booted up the computer

I use an evga 750i FTW motherboard, and the first thing I did when it booted was give me a very long (2-3 second) beep, indicating a problem. From there, it does not boot. The whole system is locked up and does not boot to windows at all. It just beeps, then the fans spin until I turn off the comp. I have tried the other pci slot for the card, and I have put my old card in the slot to test if it works, which it does. The card itself is shot, to my knowledge.

I know I am asking for a miracle, but has someone run into this problem before? What did I do wrong? Did I forget something? Any suggestions are much appreciated and thanks in advance for taking the time to read this. I am hoping to avoid replacing this card, as I do not have the money at this time, and my old nvidia 8500 cannot handle DoWII.

**edit**
I am at work at the moment, so I will not be able to respond for a few hours, but I will check this the second I get home.

You need to maybe try the card in another person's PC? I thought i fried all 9 of my guitar pedals today in one hit when the PSA adapter blew up!, I checked EVERYTHING except the lead from the guitar to pedal #1 - would never have thought of it - everything is OK ... moral of story, check everything, even silly things, maybe one of your 8 pins is bunked out...

I would take the card apart again and Check it again,
Put it back together and then make sure all power leads are connected properly.

Also if you can check on a different PC and if possible a different power supply.

I did try it in my roomie's PC, no change. I'm honestly at a loss as to what to do. I will take it apart for sure and see, maybe try a new thermal paste, but much else, I am boned. Thanks for the posts guys.

And I have already curled into a ball and wept. And wept. For days.

Could have been, but I stopped running at that clock around christmas. The card was shredding games at stock, so I just turned it back down. The fan speed is the only thing I've adjusted this whole time.

Pull it apart again, very slowly and carefully, and then check all the connections and screws as you put it back together. One slipped screw or loose connection could be all it takes to stop it working.
