I did find this atom board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-653-_-Product

What do you guys think of that? I think it should be able to provide the necessary speed for the NAS / streamer.

You would be paying extra for the ION GPU which you won't be using.
Once again...

AMD don't do anything like Atom - they do the Sempron 140. Which is a full-featured cpu (unlike the Atom, with it's lack of more mainstream features like out-of-order exectution etc). Although the Sempron has a much higher TDP, it idles at very low power. But more importantly, AMD's 7x0G chipsets are low power, whereas the 945GC/ION chipsets are very power hungry, and use much more than the 8W TDP Atom. So a full AMD board can use less power than an Atom board (depending on your loading), despite being a much faster and more capable system.

Well i was planning to build it as small as possible with the most amount of storage.
And mobo designed for a sempron 140 is about 24cm wide and 20cm long, vs a atom which is 17x17cm.

So for definate, AMD chips pull less electricity than Intel? Is that only for the compact chip market?
