Do you realize we are in a freaking Nintendo DS thread about piracy? What DRM? You put it on a god damn cartridge with micro sd or in an emulator and off you go.... That is the problem... there is no DRM right now and everyone is happy but they are going to introduce some kind of measure to prevent this.
You brought up the DSi, and possible steps to make it harder to download games. The only way they could really try to make this happen is DRM, which the DSi has.

Where was I defending these downloads?

I stated that they happen, will continue to happen, and cannot be stopped.

That's neither a defense nor a condemnation. It's just the reality of the situation.

DRM, Dedicated servers being removed, Multiplayer being focused on more then single player
No they aren't. The only one to blame for the overblown, ineffective, and futile response to piracy are the game publishers and console makers.

PS3 has virtually zero piracy, eventually Onlive when it improves.
The PS3 has little piracy for a number of reasons, some of them relating to good decisions by Sony (region free games) and some of them relating to practical/incidental deterrents (PS3 games are enormous, BluRay burners are expensive).

The day of rampant PS3 piracy will come, it will just take some time.

Your just a statistic, a part of the problem, and the gaming industry sees that and then does the inevitable... something we DON'T want them to do.
Honestly, I think the gaming industry is over due for another great crash, like the one that happened in 83-84.

If and when it comes, it won't be the fault of gamers or pirates, it will be the fault of large, misguided, and inflexible publishers. They are the ones who set prices beyond what the market considers reasonable and they are the ones who waste further money and effort trying to combat the inevitable backlash of their asinine practices. Typical game publishers are living in the past, by outdated economics. It's right that they suffer because of it.

There are no games on my systems that I did not originally obtain via legitimate means (except for some long out of print console ROMs, none newer than the early 90s, that aren't available by any other means). Most of my PC games are cracked out of convenience, but I bought them all.

I agree about making a statement with my purchases, which is why I usually wait 12-36 months to buy games. They are almost all priced far too high, but I am a patient man, and have no problems waiting for something to wind-up in the bargain bin before getting it.
