Not better than the 980X though, and there are locked multi Xeon versions of the 980X for ~$500.

I'm pretty sure it's still better. And if you're going to go the server board route you might as well get two xeons or two x6's. 12 real cores will pound 8 real cores into the dirt.

Before I bought my thuban I had doubts, but I am very happy with it. It is alot more than I expected. Overclocking , performance, power consumption, and now my friends with i7 has nothing on my. I am a happy man, now I am even with my friends for cheaper.
Anyone who says that the i7s are still more popular and the more advanced architecture aren't fanboys. Fanboys are those who believe that one company cant beat theirs. However, in the case of the x6s, there just x4s with two more cores added in. Same architecture, just a little redone. And i7s architecture is still superior to the x6s. That being said, the x6s do offer a good price for good performance, but if you're looking for a top line build for gaming, look i7, not phenom II.

second off, a lot of people have spent 1 grand for an i7 980x

and finally, third off, the i7 980x and the i7 920's actually beat the 6 core thuban
Compared to http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html, the thuban actually beats it a little bit, but I've seen i7 920 beat the thuban in some benchmarks..

It's like comparing a Nissan GT-R (Thuban) and a Porsche Carrera GT (i7). the GT-R will perform better on some situations, still being slower than the C.GT but affordable. The Carrera GT IS faster, if you can pay the price.

I think you mean bulldozer.

We don't know if it will compete with the i7 six cores or not, there haven't been benchmarks yet.
