Thuban is not better than Gulftown. There are plenty of reviews you can check this with. It gets pounded.

Oops, I got confused. It isn't 6 core Xeons, it's quad core. Still, you can get a 32nm quad core Xeon with 12MB of L3 cache for $389 on newegg. This is basically the Westmere based quad core i7 that never materialized that people were hoping for. Well now it's here but with a Xeon lable. Here they are on Newegg:

We don't know if it will compete with the i7 six cores or not, there haven't been benchmarks yet.
Bulldozer will be competing with Sandy Bridge, not Nehalem.

Sorry try again. Reread my post.

I said I'm converting 20. Twenty 1080p movies. And it's taking 4 hours. He was converting 1, ONE. And it's taking 5 hours.

I recently bought a 1055t. It was a great CPU. But it didn't feel as fast as my I7. But that's just me.

about the thuban and encoding why is it so easy for you to believe lol? Have you not seen that your cpu is clocked over 4ghz?

as for your claims
even thuban cant beat the 980x at the SAME SPEED! as timAHH said, it gets pounded by gulftown. im saying that because its true..look at reviews and benchmarks. if gulftown wasnt worth getting, then why does a forum like overclock.net buy gulftown?

lol, no, all of that converting is left up to the CPU.

There shouldn't be any felt difference according to these guys, unless you rather have the feeling of having the I7 name and the Intel badge.

My point there, the 256GB SSD is greatly helping the process.
Man,all these Thuban threads turn sour after the intel fanboys walk in on a AMD thread.

It was a hard choice, just ordered the parts last week. Went with the i7 930, pretty confident I'll hit 4.2ghz.
