MSI Lightning Radeon 5870 overclock problem

Hello Chaps
I was hoping that you guys could help me. I have just bought above card from Ebuyer and I am very happy with it..... Until now
I have tried to overclock the baby and the max it can handle, as far as I can see is a core of 960 and a Memory of 1250. This is with the core at 1.299v in Afterburner.
I have raised the volts to 1.35 and raised the core to 1000 and mem to 1300 and it runs the Heaven benchmark fine. So I run Furmark@ 1920x1080 no AA and it crashes.
This is then even more strangerer.... If I have just changed the settings to 4x AA, it runs all the way to the end of the benchmark of Furmark with no problems. I leave it for a few mins, run it again and once again it crashes.
I have plugged both 8x PCIe powers into the card, so I guess that this isn't the problem. Oh and also, the temp never goes above 81, even on 1.35.
Please help, as I want to get the best from this card, but CAN'T!

Try running crisis loops and other common games to see if it is stable. That is what only matters is if the game can run fine and the volts are crazy high!! you should just need 1.25(about) to hit 1000Core.

Thanks for the reply Sir! I'll have a go now and see what happens. Oh and I looked at a review of the MSI Lightning http://www.legionhardware.com/articl...htning,11.html
and that is where the idea came from for the volts and speeds that I am trying to accomplish.
Well I'll have a go anyway, with the crysis loop and I'll report back.
Thanks again

Ok, so it's running stable 1.25 at 1000 core 1300 memory under all benchmarks except Furmark and GPUtool. I don't know where to go from here to make it stable for these two benchmarks. The highest I can go and be fully stable is 960 and 1250.
Oh, yesterday I thought I'd have a go at popping my old 9800GT 1024 in for Physx. That was easier than I thought it would be! My benchmark in Unigene Heaven actually went up a couple of frames too...... Which is nice.
Sorry to go off topic for just one sec, but although my mobo says that it will run at 8x 8x with two cards, it still says that the 5870 is running at 16x in GPUz. Not that I'm complaining of course. Is this true, or is it just a phenomenon?
TA! x

I've read they have voltage issues. There's a guy on here named Patch if I remember correctly that found a fix for it. There may be a bios update that will take care of it as well.

Well I searched and found the thread about the voltage problems. I managed to get the new BIOS and new afterburner and STILL I'm having problems.
I guess I'll just have to wait until a new BIOS is released. I'm gutted now, as this card has so much potential.
If there's anyone else who can help, then please do

So, has anyone resolved this issue yet. It's been months and I'm still getting the squares when trying to run furmark.
I'm sorry to wake up an old post, but I've heard nothing yet and can't get this bloody thing to overclock at all.
Thanks again peopley weopley.

Unfortunately I think it is just a poor bios on the part of MSI. Not much you are going to be able to do until MSI gets a good bios for that card.

Now thanks for the prompt reply, but that is definately NOT what I wanted to hear. I guess stock is going to have to do for now until they sort it. I'm sure that if it doesn't get fixed soon, I am never, EVER going to buy MSI again.
And there was me going to get an MSI X58 board and I7 next month with my bonus
Asus again I guess.
