Remembering back to my CHIV running the included utility from Asus (PC Probe II) was always considered correct and used to compare all other utilities temps against. It was lacking only because it would only show a current reading (not min, max and current) like HWInfo64. Give HWMonitor a try. I've had good luck with that too.

From what I'm reading here, sounds like your leaving the CPU/NB voltage on auto. The more items you manually enter into bios the better off you'll be. Especially with voltages. Take control and enter voltages manually and test with Prime95 as you go. Failure times will help show if your adjustments are moving you in the right direction. If 2000MHz runs stock at 1.15v than manually enter that. Make a small freq adjustment and retest. When P95 fails make a "SMALL" voltage increase and creep up on the lower limit your systems needs.

The max safe CPU/NB voltage for a Thuban is 1.5v. Max safe Vcore 1.5v - 1.55v.
Here's a snip of what I ran on my Thuban for a long time with no issues,
first just after a 28 hr run of Prime95 Blend (now Idle), while second is under load for same test.

I dont have an issue with temps, thats ok. Its the CPU-NB voltage reading thats the problem. hwinfo shows 1.15 all the time which happens to be the same voltage for the North bridge (not cpu-nb). So when i jacked it up to 2800mhz at auto, the offset+auto setting in my motherboard automatically fed 1.45V upon restarting, while at windows it was showing 1.15. (hwmonitor doesnt read CPU-NB volt at all)

At the moment, im running at 2,800mhz with 1.15V set at manual and everything seems to be ok (did a 10-15min blend + finished batman AA on it)

I remember checking someone's screenshot of Aida64 and they had the CPU-NB Volt reading in their screenshot, tried it and didnt work, its in the motherboard section apparently and wasnt there for me.

Today Ill try 3000Mhz on the 1.15 setting and try blend, idk what a failure looks like,Im trying to experience one so I can start tweaking. Ive also read in some thread that if the system is sluggish or chuggy then its a sign of a overclocked cpu-nb not being fed enough voltage. This one is a hard one to notice.

Thank you !!!

Have you cross-checked the values with an external thermometer or DMM with that function ?

Is it that cold where you've placed your pc or was it just for benching ? You know, door open, benching winter mode...

Okay so here is how it went. Did two tests only (first maxxmem and then 3dmark11)

cpu-nb:
3000mhz @ 1.15V - No boot
3000mhz @ 1.16V - No boot
3000mhz @ 1.2V - Boot but crash at maxxmem
3000mhz @ 1.21V - Boot, okay at maxxmem, crash at combined 3dmark11 test
3000mhz @ 1.22V - Boot, okay at maxxmem, ok at 3dmark11 test

Now here are the maxxmem results (i hope you all like graphs biggrin.gif)

(AM2 DDR2-800 bonus:P)

3200 wouldnt boot @ 1.25, 1.3, 1.35, 1.4 got to post and got stuck (had to press some DirectKey button to enter BIOS - decided to end the CPUNB OC adventure)

CPU core clock was 3200 default.

^^ Try increasing the FSB to get at 3200 NB, maybe running it at a high multi is making it unstable

i went upto 4ghz with 1.425vcore (but it fluctuates upto 1.46V), batman, hawx, 3dmark11 physics was stable. even 4 runs of IBT.

did a Daz3D render and crashed after 10s (0x00A) - i noticed temps skyrocket with this more than any other software (occt, ibt, prime95)

so went back to 3.9ghz at 1.4V. daz3d render went fine. tried occt and got error on core1, again on core 2. one test passes, other fails lol.

anyway, i didnt do long tests, as my temps go 55C (core temp) on all six core usage scenarios which obviously isnt good. need a 2 fan setup before continuing.

btw will an H80i be any better than a two fan H50 setup?

0x50 = RAM timings/Frequency or uncore multi unstable, increase RAM voltage or adjust QPI/VTT, or lower uncore if you're higher than 2x
0x124 = increase/decrease QPI/VTT first, if not increase/decrease vcore...have to test to see which one it is
0x0A = unstable RAM/IMC, increase QPI first, if that doesn't work increase vcore

Ive been getting 0x124 alot, I guess its Vcore related.

At stock IMC and 3.8-3.9ghz (1.38-1.4V), I even got 0x0A (once) and 0x50. Both mention QPI again.

What is QPI/VTT for AMD?

I ended up hitting a wall at 4.2 GHZ, and another at 3200 NB. 4250 was semi stable and i never could get 4300 to be stable. temps all are low for aircooled (20ish C idle,46C load) and As mentioned in the twards the beginning of this thread, it is a lot snappier once you hit 4.2 compared to 4.1 GHZ.

Since i used this thread as inspiration here are my stats:

- Core: 4.2GHZ
- NB: 2800
- vCore: 1.500
- vNB: 1.300
-vCPU NB 1.350 -- was key in getting this thing stable at over 4.1 GHZ
- Ram Speed / Timings: 1600/9-9-9-24-2T
- FSB: 200
- Multi: 21
- Motherboard: GA-880G-USB3
- Cooler: Phanteks PH-TC14PE CPU Cooler (with 3x fans)
- Stable: Y PIC (Click to show)

Ordered a sabertooth board. I have been told that my VRM will likley kick the bucket on[/SPOILER] current board with no VRM heat sync. aalso don't need a microATX for a media pc anymore.

This build is just scavenging what i could out of a off the shelf HPE-460Z desktop that been using. ends up the CPU and the grafix card was the only thing., but the rest will make a nice media server.

- Ram Speed / Timings: 1870/9-10-9-24-33-2T
- FSB: 233 (234 most of the time with Asus FSB fluctuations anyone know how to get rid of this please PM me)
- Multi: 18
- Motherboard: Asus sabertooth 990 FX R2.0
- Cooler: Phanteks PH-TC14PE CPU Cooler (with 2x Thermalright TY-140 and 1x phanteks PH-140TS fans)
