I thought about it, but the gap at the but everything under those fans you see is an open intake, and all three fans have filters on them (case design). The temps listed are core temps. socket gets up to 62 max after around 10 IBT runs, but hangs out at around 57 once fans kick on high. I also have some AP-182s on the way to help with temps (stronger case fans , will probibly remove the bottom CPU fan since they move a ton of air in a nice column).

edit: after installing 182 fans and folding for over 5 hours temps are 38C @ ambient of 23C

Hello everybody I am extremely new to pc recently got a great deal on some components and decided to put this together. After reading through some of this thread(certainly not all of it) Just trying to find how to make this run at its best. So here we go how high can I take this with the stock cooler? And are there any good tips you guys have for making it run at it's best

Thanks in advance

Welcome! First things first, I would recommend a better cooler before pushing your CPU further! smile.gif As of now, you're only limited really by your cooler because in my own experience, 1090Ts like to generate a good amount of heat

Cool what would you recommend i would hope to get it to 4.0 and stable i have been enjoying getting into the pc and as i only spent about 850 bucks to build everything I don't mind putting a little more into a new cooler to get the best out of it. Also could this cpu affect the performance of my cfx hd6950"s. I am currently playing bio shock infinite and getting about a steady 45-50 fps was just wondering how it might affect it.

Thank you for your help

I have a hyper 212+ sitting in storage that got my chip to 4.0 stable. but only to 4.0 stable. I threw on Phantecks 14PE and dropped over 10C over the hyper 212+

moral of the store: hyper 212+ should get you to 4.0 GHZ as long as you are not looking to push over 1.47V and have good airflow, the cost $30 or less if you live in OR and want mine.

EDIT: something you also need to consider is VRM cooling see link below:

I recommend the Noctura D14, go big or go home. So many people go budget cooler for the first purchase which always leaves you wanting something more temp wise. Save yourself some $$$ and go big right out of the box. You won't regret it with a Thuban. Of course when the time is right nothing cools better than a WC loop. The Rasa kits are very nice, affordable and temps will no longer be an issue. The plus is you have the option to always add onto the loop and place the GPU/s under water as well.

I have had real good results with the Phanteks PH-TC14PE.

http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/phanteks_ph_tc14pe/4.htm

I currently have ti with 2x Ty-140 fans and on stock fan on it in a FT02 case with ap182 fans. Core temps hanging around 37C after folding CPU and GPU for over 12 hours straight.

If i needed more cooling i would for with 3x ty-143 fans. but i am unsure if you can really get much cooler on air without significantly louder fans or a water loop.
