m11x little problems...

Thread Starter
I've had this laptop for about 3 months now and I'm loving all the features (except the CPU, really weird and whacky stuff happen to it...).

I've had multiple concerns; the hard drive is soo slow, it just doesn't cut it... Sometimes it also likes shutting down my computer as "protection" when I barely lift it to move to another table.
I've changed that, got a Momentus XT (Hybrid SSD) into it and it got a lot faster, but louder and battery life suffered

Now the main problems I'm having is the "resume from hybrid sleep/hibernation"
YouTube- M11x No boot issueAs you can see, the video is pretty much self-descriptive...

Second issue is just plain sad.
My screen is flickering like crazy at the bottom, it does it when I put the "overclock" option in the BIOS to off, when it's overclocked, no problems! Amazingly weird...

YouTube- M11x screen flicker issue
I hope somebody might have any ideas of what to do; as for the drivers I'm running the latest ones now and had no problems with them at all.

I'm thinking of creating a ticket with Dell since I don't really need a laptop for summer and send it back/get it fixed but I'm not sure if that'd work since I only took the "stock" warranty...

Also, what nvidia driver version and what Intel driver version do you have? Both problems plauged me, and it turns out my Intel GMA 4500MHD drivers were at fault.

I'm using the "beta" nVidia drivers from Dell.ca, the 197.12, P03
For Intel, Device Manager tells me 8.17.11.9712, but I don't find any on the Dell.ca website.

Also, it doesn't do it when on discrete card/Overclocked... so kinda funny, usually it's the other way around!

Try using the Nvida drivers straight from Nvidia, they should be offered for the M11x. I would seriously talk to Dell about the screen flicker however, you might be able to get yourself a new i7 model refresh in an exchange if you bargain well enough!

Talk to the rep, of course. That's what I do. He gets you in contact with his support team anyways... Otherwise, you go over your rep's head and go to his manager - his information should be on the bottom of any emails you've exchanged with your Dell rep

Hi Abhishek,

I haven’t heard back from you, but I take as a guess that you’ve received my e-mail.

I don’t know if you’d be the right person to speak with, if you aren’t can you direct my request to the right group please?

A couple of issues have arisen since the last few days. At first, the computer decides to shut down randomly when I barely move it, other times I can move it freely and it won’t shut off; as if the Accelerometer or the Free Fall Sensor would be reacting incorrectly to different situations.
Another issue that I’m more concerned about is the fact that it doesn’t always boot back on after sleep, I open the lid and the screen stays black.

Here’s a video of it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmRTnfveMWg

There is also another issue that I’m concerned with is the screen has been randomly flickering on the bottom side.
I’ve checked that I’m using the latest drivers and everything is up to date in my laptop, I’ve also ran the LCD BIST from this KB
http://support.dell.com/support/topi...t?docid=361151
And it all tested OK, but I’m still experiencing some issues...

Here’s a video of it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J133TDabJeY

At the end, this is my first laptop that I’ve finally decided to buy and I feel a bit unlucky with this whole buying process that originated in January...

I’d like to thank you in advance for the response,

Regards
How does that sound to you?
