I can't decide witch gpu to buy

Thread Starter
I am looking to spend up $120 bucks for my new computers gpu. but i can not decide with is the most cost effective card. I want it to at least play games like half-life2 (or any source engine game or a game that takes about that much power) on high. and play games like crysis on at least medium.

You may want to save up for a better card, $120 won't get you anything drastically better than the 9800 GT you have now.

Yeah, save up and get the 5770.

Yeah, save up about $20-30 and buy a 5770. From what I hear, it's hard to beat in the price/performance arena.

What I'm seeing is roughly 265 Watts at max load. I'll look into it a bit more, though.

Edit: Another source says 108 Watts. I think I was wrong with the first, but I'll keep looking.

I agree with all here, saving an extra $40 will definately benifit you by getting a 5770. However if you only need performance and not all the bells and whistles the 5770 has, you can get a good 4850 for $120. Slightly slower(5770 = 4870) but still a really good solid card, it is a bit better than you 9800 but not by a huge margin if my memory serves me right. Think about it.
