Drifting, I got mine from scan.co.uk - I've always found they'll be the first to get some stock. Consider pre-ordering one if you want to get on the list and get one as soon as they come in. I was lucky in that they were in stock for a day when I got mine. I didn't need to preorder. CCL and Overclockers got some the same day Scan did, so you could watch those too.

However, Scan always seem to get the larger allocations of stock. I have an alternative supplier if you're willing to buy from the states and pay import tax (overall it comes to about £30 more than UK prices)

Ah that does indeed suck, drifting.

This build has been on the "saving up" stage for a while and while some of the components have changed, the cost is the same.

Currently installing Windows 7.

Well, I'm posting from the new machine called Parthenon.

Had a few issues with the 2nd gtx480. Windows has detected it is there and I can enable SLI. However, when I enable SLI, the machine locks up. I'm suspecting it might be to do with the LCD tv I'm hooked into while I install. So I'm not going to write it off until I plug into my real monitors.

I'll probably swap the LCD hdmi cable to the 2nd card to see if it outputs correctly. Then I know it probably isnt broken.

Current temps:
GPU Idle temps: 37c
CPU Idle Temp: 31-35c
Ambient: (unsure atm - unmeasured) around 25c if I take one of my temp monitors as an indicator.

I haven't had the opportunity to stress test this baby yet as this lcdtv hates doing full screen. It didn't even display 3dmark Vantage when I tried that. Just because I know it: Windows 7 rated it a 7.9 heh. As much as that is any indicator.

Well it has been a week since an update. Unfortunately that 2nd GTX480 was definitely bad. I was getting lots of artifacts all over the bios and especially in Windows. It would hard lock the machine and/or bluescreen a lot on its own. It wouldn't pair up with the good card in SLI.

I had tried:
* Plugging in the power from the good card.
* Using it on its own without the good card.
* Reseating it.
* Multiple drivers (including driver sweeper)
* Plugging in the mobo aux pcie power connections.
* TFT monitor on DVI and not a LCD tv hooked in via hdmi

Ultimately EVGA told me I should RMA it. I RMA'd it to the supplier and they had the same issues (thankfully). The new card arrived today. Hopefully this will be a working card and will pair up in SLI correctly. 1 week exactly turn around on the RMA is pretty good though. Thank god it wasn't a Gigabyte one. Assuming all goes well, I can get down to some serious thrashing of the machine to see what it can do.

I also swapped out some pipes in the original loop to be slightly longer as I wasn't happy with them. Unfortunately this means more leak testing is required.

However, with the single working GTX480 not overclocked, I got a ~17800 on 3dmark Vantage for the GPU only.

Just installed the new gtx480 and filled up the loop again. Currently running pump+fans only to get their air out and to check the new pipes are good and that everything is tight enough where I had to disconnect them.

Looking forward to this build being completed so I can see what this baby can do.

I'm also looking for 2 new 24 inch monitors if anyone has any recommendations.

Yeh I've looked at some of the Dell ones. I know Dell used to have big problems with their LCDs so I hope that has improved.

Some I've looked at:
Samsung SyncMaster P2450H
Dell U2410 Ultrasharp (bit expensive tbh)
Dell Ultrasharp U2311H
Asus VW246H
Acer S243HLbmii LED LCD

I've heard a lot of good things about the Samsung monitors and a lot of people use them on Overclock.
As for cost, I'm trying to keep the cost under the £300 mark for each one but I'll go over this IF they are worth the extra.

I don't know if LED LCD is worth it or not; Some people say it has better colour which would be worth a bit extra.

I'd prefer something at 2ms rather than the 6-8ms which the IPS panels seem to be around. I always hate the ghosting effect from slow panels.

Nice build!! I am using very similar parts for mine.

Is there are reason why you are not using the Corsair Memory Fan?
