What's best card for under $200 - Page 2

graphics card in store on the market are all oriented for gaming . The other graphic card design for other thing then gaming are series that cost 3 time the price of a good gaming graphic card but you will likely never see one in store or advertised as much as gaming card are .

So for gaming card you look at

real world Performance

cause stats sheet are not reliable when it comes down to real world environment .

also there's the overall architecture/PCB that comes in to change performance

Edit : 5770 is the best bang for the buck on the market .

Also what do I look for in a good gaming card?
core clock, shader clock, memory clock, stream processors, memory size, or memory interface?
The higher the numbers on a card the better...

ATi - 5xxx
58x0 - High end gaming
57x0 - Mid/High end gaming
56x0 - mid end gaming
55x0 - Home Theater

5x70 - top of the line in most cases
5x50 - second fastest usually the best deal
5x30 - left over stuff that no one really wants

Put them together right and you'll come out the 5770

Ok well a 5770 seems to be the general consensus. Is this card power hungry? What should I have for a psu? And is the stock cooling fan(s) efficient enough?

Its the most efficient card on the market right when it comes to power/performance (and price/performance) thats for sure, if you have anything over 500W you'll be more than fine

I dunno what PSU you should get.. it depends on other components too.
The hawk one mentioned has plenty of built in cooling.
Its not power hungry :]

Hey look, I am an ati fan also, but as far as previews go, the gts 450 looks to be an impressive budget card, based on the gf104 chip.

EDIT: By the way, the 5770 hawk needs no aftermarket cooling, it already has a great heatsink on it. For a psu, to play it safe, 400w for a single card and 500+w for dual.

I don't do folding (maybe when it's not 100F here) but havn't people said that Nvidia cards are much better folders? When a GTX 275 or even 280 sometimes can be gotten for less than $200 at the marketplace, is the 5770 really better PPD?..

I thought the 5830 could be flashed to a 5870?
