That psu is expensive! Its not worth it for that price. They had a 1300w on there the other day for $700.

I think its do-able with all passive cooling especially looking at some of the heatsinks at computex. But i don't know how far you could push the system in terms of performance.

you need to replace the hdd with an ssd, remove all the fans (except from your psu),buy a psu with a big fan (120,140mm) so less db and finally a heatsink that can handle the heat without any fans

That water cooled psu is a joke. It's a giant marketing gimmick, don't buy it. To build an entirely silent build, you will have to go with a fanless cpu and gpu heatsink and also a fanless psu. If you want to go with extremely quiet, just go with some good quiet fans and put them on a fan controller. When you turn the fans down, you won't even know they are there.

If you need more help on how to build a silent system, check out my thread here.

I figured as much. It wasn't a name brand, and if it were what it claimed to be, we would have heard of it already.

It's just a balance between silent and performance.

I thought they made low power fan-less PSUs.

Fanless PSUs still require airflow.

Silent systems generally (choose at least one):
A) use expensive specialized components
B) require custom built parts
C) provide low performance

It is much easier to build an inaudible system.

I believe Zalman or similar company makes a case that is a giant heatsink so, you would have no fans etc.

Scythe is known for their hugh heatsinks.... some are designed to run passively. However, passive performance is never great.
