in all seriousness, the g73 s great lets see you wanted:

- Nice screen, around 16", good resolution
it has a 17 inch 1600x900 display
- 4GB (or more) of RAM
6 gb of 1333mhz DDR3 ram with an empty bay for another cheap 2gb card, you don't even need to fill it yet but it's more "future proof" since it can have 16 gb with current technology and if they start making 8 gb sticks 32 max. o.O

- Core i7 (as stated earlier - will settle for a nice i5 model if the other specs pan out)
Core i7 720QM (Quad core)
- Blu-ray player is a plus
(you can get a blu-ray player in it stock for a lot of money or put one in aftermarket for less) The one I am talking about does not have blu-ray stock to fit in your price range.

other notable features that will make you nerdgasm:

Ati Radeon 5870: The worlds fastest mobile graphics processing device ever made. Also supports Direct X 11. Can you say future proofing?

Dual hard drive bays one with a 500gb 7200rpm drive: An empty bay for a SSD or whatever floats your boat.

Dual huge cooling fans: One for CPU and one for GPU, they are quiet and have EXTREME cooling capability.

Made by Asus: My friend has had many Asus laptops for years and years, I have also had Asus, dell, hp, and toshiba laptops. Asus has been the most impressive so far by quite a bit.

EDIT: I just want to add that even though you may think "yeah but I'm not a gamer so I don't need this much laptop" but trust me, if you buy THIS laptop, you will be safe from needing a new one for quite some time. With 4 DDR3 slots, a DX11 GPU, a zippy quad core CPU, and this build quality, you are going to mock the future. In 3 years plenty of stuff will be DX11 and I will be ready. Also, when I programs want more ram I'LL GIVE EM MORE RAM. Possibly 32gb of it. rofl 32gb of ram in a laptop. I can hear it now, "Asus G73: Server Edition"
LMAO i <3 how you speak. Yea, im into mobile gaming, but unfortunatly I bought the VAIO F series before the asus g73 came into my mind :/
The VAIO F is a good and reliable laptop with i7-720qm, but the GT 330M is abit weak for a gamer. Another downside is that the screen isn't very good.

I agree with the asus g73@@@GET IT NAOW
