Are these any good?

Thread Starter
I went to a Digi-photo website, and browsed the used section.

Cameras that caught my eye:

A Canon EOS-1D, and EOS-1D MkII
A Nikon D2H
A Nikon D80 with a Horizontal shutter release/battery grip

All were under $600

The EOS-1D and the D2H are both 4.1 megapixels. The EOS-1D MkII is 8.1, and the D80 is 10.2 megapixels. The MkII is in 'Good' condition, I.E. banged up, can have fungus growing under the screen, visible signs of use, yadda yadda yadda. All the other ones are like new. The EOS and the D2H were both flagship 4k+ cameras.

Should I try my luck with the beaten-up MkII, go for a low megapixel EOS-1D or D2H, or grab the D80 with battery grip?

I am a HUGE 1D fan. IMHO opinion....cannon is the way to go.

Hope that helps a little. :

I would go for the 1D MKII. It's just a better camera alltogether.

Worst can happen is sending it in for a new shutter.

The IDMKII is still a much used and loved camera, but be warned, it's enormous. Honestly though, I would be wary of just how "good" the condition is. I would find out how many actuations are on the shutter if possible.

Personally I wouldn't bother with the Nikon D2H or the Canon 1D as they're both long in the tooth by any standards. So it's down to the Nikon D80 or Canon 1D mkII, so really it's whether you want to go Canon or Nikon.

watch out for fungus....1 lens/body with fungus can ruin all your gear.
