Will This Laptop Run Microsoft Flight Simulator X? - Page 2

Thanks for all the responses. I'd be fine with FS 2004. It looks pretty nice, from what I've seen. I haven't played a flight simulator in eight years and the one I had then was Flight Simulator 98, so this will big step up for me, still!

Just curious, are there any reasonably-priced laptops out on the market that would be able to play FSX, though?

I don't think any laptop can play fsx. You need an i7 980x at 4.8ghz to get smooth fps.

Hmm...

Well, the other laptop I was looking at sold out, it appears, unfortunately...

I was looking around a bit more on the web and came across this baby:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-113-_-Product

I assume that it's still not good enough for FSX, but do you all think I could run FS 2004 fine with it, at least?

I've played it on low on celeron 1.6ghz laptop with a gma950 im talking about fsx too

The hell are some of you talking about? Boot to the Head ran it at 1600x1200.

FSX is nowhere near as hard as people claim it is to run. That laptop will run it fine.

Thanks for all the help/suggestions, everyone.

One more question, which laptop would you recommend that could play FSX (or FS 2004) and other PC games better?

I think I may have narrowed it down to these two unless I see something that really catches my attention. I currently own an HP laptop and it still works fine three years later, so I'm kind of siding with the HP, for now, but I have a feeling that the ACER laptop would be better for gaming (although I'm not sure if it's worth the $200 extra). Both do have 1 GB video cards, but the ACER one has 8 GB of RAM.

Oops, I think I should mention that that's with REX, high-res PMDG aircraft, and max traffic while at airports. When I'm flying over the middle of the desert, I get a around 30-70 FPS.

Pretty much.

Not necessarily. Perhaps in the situation I mentioned above, but while cruising, a mid-range dual-core would be fine.

I'd say got the the second one. I'm not sure how much it costs to upgrade RAM, but I'd want as much as possible. Can't comment on the brands though. Don't really care for either HP or Acer.

I'm actually am starting to lean towards the ACER, as well. I love that it has 8 GB of RAM.

Sorry to threadjack but figured my question would be better suited for this thread. I was wondering what everyone's thoughts on the ability of the ASUS G73JH running FSX. I know it will run it (it's currently in the mail on its way to me) but I plan on getting several payware options when it comes in. I would have gone with a desktop if I wasn't deployed for the next 3 months so this seemed the best option and killer specs for a killer price. I've watched a lot of the videos owners have made showing off its performance in games like Just Cause 2, but being how CPU intensive FSX is I was hoping I wouldn't run into too many hiccups when I fire it up.

I think I'm going to go with the ACER. I've found better laptops out there, but I'm not going to spend $1,500 for a high-end gaming laptop, so even if the ACER isn't quite as good, it seems like it's a better deal. Plus, the 8 GB of RAM should allow me to do a lot of multitasking on the laptop.

I really haven't heard much of ACERs before, which makes me kind of nervous, but from what I've read, they're a good brand, so I guess all will be well.
