crysis at x8 anti ali maxed settings 5850 crossfire = random stutters

Thread Starter
When i play crysis at x8 AA, all of a sudden while playing the game something random happens and my game fps just stutters all over the place whenever i move my character making it feel like mini freezes o_O

when i change my settings back to x4 or no AA everything is fine and this never happens at x4 AA or x2 .. this only happens in x8, and when this Does happen in x8 if i switch back to x4 or none and then switch settings back to x8.. everything is fine till randomly again in the middle of the game the same thing happens and i have to change settings again to fix it.

so uhm

any explanation O_O

VRAM maxing out.
Check it with Afterburner>GPU Memory Usage (I assume newer Rivatuner can do it now too in Win7 since Afterburner can).

Welcome to OCN, please fill out your system specs in your profile page (userCP link at the top).

Yeah, check your GPU temperature. It's probably being stressed out on it from what i can guess.

Ill just ask here instead of waiting for your specs to get filled out: What resolution?

I mentioned VRAM above... if you're trying to max out crysis, it's going to be huge (the updated engine in Warhead had better texture streaming), and your SLI cards have to mirror each other... so even though you have 2 cards with 1GB VRAM each, you still only have 1GB of VRAM space to use. It would explain the stutter you speak of.

just played crysis again and my memory is always at 1000 when on it and temps are only at 60.

when i went to x8 it happens pretty quickly and at x4 im alright but sometimes some stutters happen with that a swell but nothing comparable to the x8.
