I'm waiting for this heat wave to pass before I try any more stress tests. My 3.7ghz OC is idling around 45C currently. Load temps are still fine under 75C tho.

I just picked up some Enzotech mosfet copper heatsinks to place on the hot spots on my mobo. Hopefully that will help me with Ocing.

I did that to my VRM's/Mosfets awhile ago, knocked about 2C off the temp sensor in that area. Using an Antec SpotCool on 'em also.

Why do idle temps make you mad? They're meaningless. Is the 75C the average temp of your cores, or the IHS reading? If it's cores, I'd say you have some OC headroom left there.

Ok I finally got mine stable. This is my first OC so feel free to comment or advise on anything. My goal was to keep the FSB at 133 MHz and play solely with the multiplier in an effort to keep VCore down to keep temperatures down. I might be able to push it more but I'm a little afraid to right now. The end result:

4.128 GHz @ 1.3375 VCore

I did some tests with 4,2GHz and memory @ 2000C8 with Uncore @ 3600GHz and what I thought, I needed 1,35v for the IMC.

I started with 100 loops of LinX with a memory load of 3250Mb, checkout how tight the time and GFlops are, f***ing awesome , I have never seen that close before, I quess I found the right setup for it, a sweet spot

Then I run 12hrs of Prime95 with 2 instances of 1600mb of memory load each which sums up to 3200mb in total load.

Next up is a awesome appliaction called y-cruncher, as the name says, it crunches number and it does it good, it can be used for benchmarking or for stresstesting.

The benchmark is awesome, one can load it with a lot of memory, it´s multithread and results are very close in run to run.

The stresstest does stress the system very good and it can also be used with a lot of memory, cpu temperature reaches the same as LinX during load.

For those of you that are interested in it can find y-cruncher here.

First I thought that I let it run for 3hrs but what the heck, I let it run over the night, it run for 15hrs, it was set with a 3000mb of memory load.

Finally test is 99 loops of Crysis Benchmark Tool, Assualt Harbor with the following setup, 1920x1200, 4xAA, 64-bit, DX10. It still put a lot of stress on system and since those Lynnfields have both the IMC and PCIe controller on die it put that little baby under a lot of stress, specially when I run some highend graphics card and memory at 2000MHz.

The cores. On a normal day IBT doesn't go above 70C @ 3.7ghz. I like to have my idle temps around 40C or below. Today they are around 39C, the odd thing is my first core is at 42C and my second is at 34C. The others are around 38-39C. Once fall hits it will idle around 25-30C and I'll be able to really push the chip.

I just installed an i7-875k a few days ago (had it sitting around since I bought it during the microcenter deal), as I found a clearance ga-p55-ud4p mobo at microcenter for 80 bucks. here are the results of my minimal overclock. I basically am overclocking just to get my ram to its rated 1600. I may try to max OC sometime in the future. I am enjoying the processor so far

yes it came with all accessories, it was pretty much like brand new. I got it when microcenter was doing a 25% off orange label sale, so the price was 106 with the orange label, which then got knocked down to about 80 including tax etc.

@Ghostleader - nice find on the y-cruncher prog. Also, when you get time, could you try running MaxxMem with the different QPI options your using? Would like to see the difference between the two.
