I notice most of you are using Asus boards. Yet in the various reviews I see, it seems that Gigabyte boards can wedge out just a little more speed. So, why Asus? Should I switch brands?

Sorry to break it for you but I think you have to run at least 20 runs of LinX or IBT and you have to state your IMC voltage before Cory1234 put you on the i7 875k CLUB spreadsheet.

Hey I just ordered the system listed below, any advice before I start overclocking?
I'd stick to upping the multiplier first then going with bclk and adjusting voltage. See some of the previous pages to see what works best

Boot up with Memtest86+ to check that your ram is okey before you start to install OS.

After OS installation, check that everything works at default before you start to OC.

Then it depends on what´s your goal, one way is to just use the multi to reach the desire cpu speed but this way you don´t get the benfit of a higher UnCore frequency but you get a way with a lower IMC voltage.

The other way is to use as high Bclk as possible and then rise the multi to reach the desire cpu speed, you get a higher UnCore frequeny but you need to feed the IMC with more voltage and try to sync the ram speed to the Bclk.

Reach a cpu speed of 4,0 or 4,2 with a Bclk of 200 and ram speed of 1600 shouldn´t be to hard reach with moderate voltage and this´s in my opinion a very good OC.

or you can use the awesome "Turbo Unlocker" feature that Asus P55 board have, that feature combine with a i7 875k is one awesome combination in my opnion, it´s a good way to OC and still have all the power savings feature intact, check out this post for more information

Good luck

I just happened to see that you posted as it happened...strange

Anyway, all of these P55 series boards have a bios update that adds that ability to the AI Tweaker tab, but it is possible that that was there the whole time. I literally booted the first time, then flashed the bios to the latest at the time (new ones are out, but I have no need to get them) and then just OC'd using the Turbo Unlocker and minor vcore adjustment. I have plans to take it a bit further later on this winter when temps cool down.
