With the 875k I was using my Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3P mb.

HT enabled; LLC enabled; EIST enabled; all of the C1/C7/C1E enabled
Vcore = normal + 0.025v, ran at 1.344v on max load
PLL = 1.7v (normal = 1.8v)
Vtt (IMC) and PCH were at normal.
Vdimm set to 1.62v, ran at 1.616v.

It was quite stable at 134x30.

I'm back on my i7 860 ATM, still using my Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3P mb.
HT enabled; LLC enabled 182x22=4004MHz
Vcore set to 1.31250v, runs 1.312 - 1.328v on max load
Vtt = 1.19v, PLL = 1.7v, PCH = normal
Vdimm set to 1.62v, runs at 1.616v.
EIST still enabled, but C1/C7/C1E disabled

Check this out guys:

4.6ghz, check out those temps . Could've pushed it further, but I didn't want to press my luck.

I think it might be worth noting that the latest version of CPU-Z is available and that people should also look into real temp 3.60 if that already isn't on the main page.

Here is a link to a bios fix for the ASUS P7P55D-E (standard) motherboard: The latest revision allows you to up the bclk over 149 and still keep speedstep tech. enabled. I remember seeing a poster a few pages back going for an extreme overclock and not being able to go over 150 without speedstep enabled...looks like the people at Asus also figured that out and fixed it! (I am sure that the new bios revision is also available for all P7P55D-E boards.

I just recently flashed to the new bios just because it had been a while since my last update. I am also going to post my new OC (shooting for 3.6 GHz on LinX and IBT) stable for at least 1 hour a piece. My goal is to still only use the speed bin multipliers. \\
for my purposes:
1 core @ x7=133x29=3857mhz
2 cores @ x6=133x28=3724mhz
3 cores @ x5=133x27=3591mhz
4 cores @ x5=======3591mhz

So, with stock frequency and voltage ranging from 133x9=1197mhz and .920v respectively to 3.6GHz and 1.224v with all 4 cores or 3.86 on 1 core.
I think I am going to just about max my chip out SAFELY on my CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ (which I got for $20!!!)

If this OC holds, or if any of you have reccomendations on how to achieve a similar or faster OC with no major heat issues (ie: increased voltage) feel free to comment!

LASTLY: Updates to come with better screenshots than before. I need to find out a way to post full res screenshots on the forums instead of using photobucket +rep to someone who knows how to do this!

you need an unlocked chip to get full control over the multiplier, otherwise it is locked

The 950 you have (and all 1366 chips but the 980x) do NOT have unlocked multi. However, this is just another way to OC...I think that it is cleaner and easier, but doesn't allow for as much precision as BLCK OCing only. However, with the two combined, like the 875k and 655k, it is a great combo and gives the user multiple ways to overclock.

The new sandybridge chips will not be overclocker friendly as far as I know from the very few reviews that I personally have seen, unless you but the unlocked "K" version of the chip.

These are the results stable after 20 runs of LinX...ambient temps are about 21c

So far so good, I will do some more testing later in today

this is my first post. i just built this system. i am really enjoying the site! this is my first system i have built from the ground up. i have done quite a bit of swapping parts on computers i have bought though. i ran linX with memory at "all" setting, not sure if this was what i am supposed to do. it sure ran alot hotter than prime95 that is for sure.

side note, the gelid icy vision is an amazing cooler. i have a pretty good OC on my vid card and i can go further with it. temps are under 65 full load.

doesnt look like i can push my cpu much more, temps are about as far as i want to go. i am happy with the OC though. vdroop is off speedstep and turbo are on. i overclocked it by using the turbo multi. 8x on each, it works well. i really like the speedstep also, runs nice and cool when doing daily activities. i plan on adding a few more fans to my case, maybe that will let me get a little more out of it!

haf 922
875k running at 3995 mhz (noctua d14)
465gtx 812/1624/1901 (gelid icy vision cooler)
8 gigs of corsair

cpu freq 3995
bclk133
multi 30
vcore 1.31
ctt 1.23

Hi guys

I have a question and probably a problem about overclocking my cpu.

Firstly, I used all the main programs people use, prime 95(64 bit), OCCT, Linx(64 bit), Intel Burn test.

My cpu passed some test without bsods or resetting/closing anything.

But I realised something while testing, my cpu throttle itself for a moment to 9x multiplier and raises to overclocked option after that.

I checked bios, but everything looks fine.

And compared results with your results and results are similiar.

Is it okay for cpu to do that, does that test count ?

Or what should i do, where should i look ?

Thanks

that is most likely the speedstep which is an awesome thing imo. when your cpu isnt under much load it will cut itself back and lower the multiplier. when under load it will raise the multiplier.
