[Engadget] Macs running Steam are more powerful than PCs, on average - Page 6

Am I right in thinking that all the high end machines are PC and Not Mac?

I remember a few years ago selling a Mac to someone and it only had the lamest ATI GPU in it with a great CPU and ram setup, but such a lame gpu...l

thing was like $2000

Macs were never really big on Gaming. So yeah, if a GPU is what makes a computer "High End" for you, then yes all High End computers are Windows machines. Otherwise the CPU/RAM/HD components Apple puts in their top end Mac Pros tend to be fairly high end.

That's pretty much what the article said - good CPU's and RAM, terrible GPU's, which is a lot of use...

Makes sense I guess10 yr old pcs running steam. I don't see the point of the article though. If I had a MAC of a similar spec to my current pc, It would probably cost about 5k lol

Engadget's misleading title is to get hits..... GPU is what is really needed to drive games and most Macs aren't more powerful here. They even state it:

Quote:
Of course, where it truly counts for games, Macs still sorely lag behind; the top six Windows GPUs reported are all capable performers, but only 32.5 percent of Macs surveyed had anything but a bottom-barrel graphics card. Get with the times, Apple
Once again...
