Is this smart or is this foolish?

So I have an idea and I've executed it but I'm wondering what other people's opinions are about this. Basically what I did was, I reinstalled Windows 7 with all programs that I need and all my settings. What I did then was install Deep Freeze. What this does is freeze your hard drive. So every time I reboot all chances that have been done are undone.

This way I can keep this feeling of a speedy fresh installed Windows without worrying about a thing. But the thing is. I have no anti virus. Because well... if I have a virus... I reboot and its gone.

Incase you are wondering I have an extra partition with my user profiles and some other files that are not "frozen". Plus I have Sandboxie installed for those sketchy programs we all use.

So is this smart of foolish?

Oh god. Not Deep Freeze! *Shudder* Sorry, my school has Deep Freeze, and I just hate it on general principles. It sounds like a fairly good idea though; it'll protect important system files and allow you to not worry about viruses. I wish I'd thought of that a month ago, before my system32 got gutted by a virus... Would've saved me a reinstall. Sounds good to me!

I got to know DeepFreeze from a university where I manage the network and servers. It sucks like that... but if you configure it yourself it works pretty damn good actually.

I'd imagine so. It locks down our school computers really well, and it's really annoying when we need something but can't install it permanently. It sounds like it will work really well in lieu of an antivirus, but how much does it cost for a license?

Intelman. We don't know the password to our school's deep freeze, but we found a niftly little application... The only downside is that if you know how, this little guy can thaw (ouch, bad pun) any Deep Freeze install in a click and a reboot.

Well I've been running it for a week or so now. At first it was anoying because I forgot some setting/programs and when I installed them and rebooted they were gone. xD So I need to disable DeepFreeze and then apply the changes. Now I've got everything I need it feels like a fresh install everyday!

Plus not having an antivirus works magic for speeding up your PC.

I'm friends with the president of the university so I got the VLK from him to use.

Ah. I wonder how much it costs to buy a license. Probably something obscene...

Deep Freeze is amazing. My wife crashed her laptop like 4 times from viruses. I deep Freeze the OS partition and now we have had no issues. i Love it. Greatest program for computer illiterate people. (no offense to anyone)
