Temp difference between 47 CFM vs 87 CFM on a Black Ice 240 Stealth

Hello OCN, how are we this fine morning.

So, my temps are around ~33C on idle and ~52C on load. This is with an ambient of ~21C. If I were to switch my current 47 CFM fans and replace them with 87 CFM fans on a Black Ice Stealth 240, will I notice a big difference in temps?

Thanks

Not a HUGE difference given that the radiator is not hugely thick, though the fins are quite dense.

Maybe a few degree drop. Though personally I'd just make fan shrouds instead and retain the low noise, but probably get just as good - or possibly better - temperatures than you'd get with the upgraded fans.

You can make fan shrouds with anything that's fan shaped. You could make it from some metal or acrylic or something if you're inclined to do things like that yourself, though my personal favourite method is just to gut cheap fans and ziptie together.

A fan shroud works by removing the dead spot of air that is usually generated by the fan's hub; this allows for absolute airflow across the entire heatsink, meaning that there are no "hot spots" in the heatsink where there would normally be no air passing over.

A 25mm fan shroud gave me a temperature drop of around 4C on my heatsink; a 50mm fan shroud gave me a drop of around 8-9C.

Keanu looks so happy.

But cool, I do have a plethora of fans around my house begging to be turned into shrouds. That 8-9C drop sounds massive. Sadly, I most likely will not be doing 50mm shrouds with size constraints and what not. Thanks for the help. +Reptitude
