Need help on new gear.. GTX470, GTS 250??

Thread Starter
Ok guys, just got a 37" 1080 LCD for playing my games on. I mainly play the Call of Duty series nad some Battlefield games. Currently run 8800GT in SLI and only play at 1920x1080 or lower resolutions. is an upgrade to SLI GTS250 1gb or a single GTX470 worth it in my case?

Eh, a bit hard to say... If you're getting acceptable FPS (Which I imagine you would as CoD doesn't require much), not much reason to. Although personally I would since I love pouring money into my machine, but that's just me.

GTX 470 if you were to.

This all depends if you want to spend the money. 8800GT in SLI sounds like good performance to me. I would look more into a single GTX 260 first rather than a GTS 250. There are plenty of GTX 260s for sale in the marketplace. Go for one of them.

No reason to drop money on an SLI setup when you can grab a single more powerful card, leaving you open to better performance in newer games and possibly a second card in the future.
Are you playing with the system on your sig?How are your framerates on those 8800GT SLI?If they're not too bad at 1900x1080 then you should just keep that setup.Otherwise i would get the GTX470 since it's more future proof with DX11 compatibility. But with your current CPU,it will be bottlenecking the GTX470.I noticed that BFBC2 likes to have a nice powerful CPU when i play it on my different PC's.

PS.Rep me if you found this useful as I'm trying to get 35 reps so i can sell at OCN marketplace.Thanks.
