Building My New Rig - Page 2

Alright 500 on 2 things then.

3700+ San Diego $213
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103539

eVGA 7800GT $285
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130256

Total - $498 You will need a couple extra bucks for shipping but you can scrounge that from the seat cushions and car floorboard.

But I still think the first list of 3 is a great setup. 6800GS is a good card that can be unlocked to preform at or close to GT preformance.

i think ill get this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121192 is a bit price i wanted something under 200 bucks, but it looks nice.
Just remember bigger the number the better. 6200 - 6600 - 6800 - 7800

Add letters 6600 - 6600GT - 6800 - 6800GS - 6800GT - 6800GT Ultra - 7800GT - 7800GTX - 7900GT etc

Then factor in memory size and type ie. 128DDR vs.128DDR3 <---better

Do not look so much at clock speed because 6600GT has a clock of 500MHz and a 7800GT of 400MHz (reference) and the 7800 BLOWS away the 6600.

Hope this little guide helps. Of course this info applies to Nvidia as ATi has a bit more letters and such.

for example: 7800GT variations from Newegg.

they use part numbers whereas some places will say 7800GT CO (which means it comes with a copper heat sink that they used on a higher end card). IIRC, N517 has the copper heat sink.

Total - $485.00 That leaves you $15.00 to cover the shipping.

This is just a suggestion. If you want the 3700 mobile others will have to help because I do not know alot about the 754 socket stuff.

Yay!!! well i think i will actually go for the lower setup yep the one i quoted above, im very confused why are this 3700 so different in price? is one SLOWER~ than the other one? some one told me the DTR consumes more power i dont really care as long as its as fast as the regular 3700 sandiego? here is the link. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103560 i can save 50 bucks if i buy it maybe i will spend 50 bucks on the fan and heatsink i gues sim better of buying the regular one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103539

Don't get a mobile, get the 3700+ San Diego. the new chips have been OCing like crazy, and they're really fast stock.
The option Sporadic posted is very good....
A retail SanDiego 3700+ will do an amizing OC even with the stock FHS... you will be so amazed and the OCing at a mid stream level with the stock FHS is very easy

yeah the CPU you want is a socket 939, compared to the socket 754 mobile CPU that you linked.

1000MHz FSB (HTT) for the 3700 sandy socket 939
800MHz FSB (HTT) for the 3700 mobile socket 754

Better OC and preformance from the newer socket 939 3700+.

Old and busted - Mobile 3700
New hottness. - San Diego 3700
You decide.
