Thread Starter
Ok so right now i have 4 GB of this RAM.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-483-_-Product

I want to buy this ram and run it with my other 4GB of ram that I currently have.

Will this work? Will I have to do anything for it to work? What will be the timing?

Yes it will work. You will be limited to the 1333mhz due to the slower ram modules.

Yes, only at 1333 mhz though

You should be able to see the timings in the bios

*EDIT!*

Don't do it. For a few dollars more you can get the OCZ gold that you currently have. Don't mix the RAM's up, just continue with the same types. Or just sell your current RAM and go for the Platinums.

If you go on CPU-Z with different timed RAM you will notice that it doesn't always show up on your system. Like the others have said, you will be limited in how you modify it.

ok question what is the difference between this and this?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-483-_-Product

and

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ogy-_-20227503

Nothing correct just the color? They both have the same mhz and timings

As long as the timings and mhz are the same, then any brand of RAM can be used.

There really isn't a difference between those two that you're comparing, except if you look at the reviews, the Gold series has substantially worse reviews than the other. However, neither are all that great. OCZ is really not that good of a choice for RAM, imo. Especially if you want to overclock, you'd be much better off spending a little bit more and getting something like GSkill Ripjaws or Corsair XMS/Dominators. In the long run, the extra 20 bucks would be far worth it, especially for the quality difference you will get.
