Asus xonar d2x - games crashing

Thread Starter
I have had my xonar d2x since xmas, and I am really dissatisfied. For one, the sound quality is debatable, but is still much better than onboard. But what really pisses me off is that half of my games crash after 15mins to an hour (depending on the game). I know that it is my sound card because I turned off all my OC's to test if that was making the game unstable. And what do you know it still crashes with everything on stock speeds. Before I had this sound card, I had no issues with game stability. Also, I am using the latest drivers.

You have definitely made sure there is no heat issues?

Like maybe that the new card isn't blocking air to the Chip set on your mobo?

Possibly a fan died somewhere or needing a serious clean out?

My rule of thumb with instability and crashes is to open the case, put a high power room fan to the side and start gaming.

If it doesn't crash then something in there is flat out overheating

good Luck =P

I really don't think this is an overheating issue. I have adequate cooling for all of my parts.

If you're questioning the sound card I question what headphones or speakers you're using to listen.

After that since you seem to believe your cooling is fine and I assume you've had no problems with ON BOARD sound then I'd say, did you have another sound card before this one who's drivers might be conflicting with the new sound cards drivers? Did you disable onboard in BIOS?

Are you blue screening or does it just restart?

I would try gaming with on board to make sure it is in fact the sound card. Chances are it's still under warranty, call Asus up.

What drivers are you using on the d2x? Have you tried going down or up on the drivers?
