I just ordered the MSI GTX465 GE after reading about its cooler. Now I see how people here are turning them into 470s and I'm amazed! I'm constantly looking at this page because when it arrives I'm going to try to flash it. Your guide is perfect because it takes the whole procedure step by step and that's what I really needed.

Also, since I'm only going to be using 1 card, can I skip the "nvflash --list" command? Does that also mean I can just put in "nvflash -4 -5 -6 470.ROM" instead of "nvflash --index=0 -4 -5 -6 470.ROM" ? I'm saying this because when I was watching the video from Linus about unlocking the card, he didn't use the list command or include the index into the final command. One more thing (I don't want to screw the card over lol), after you're done flashing, do you simply remove the usb and shut down the system, or do you have to do something else to boot it into Windows? That's it no more haha. Once again thank you so much for the guide!

If you only have one card you don't have to do the list command. Correct "nvflash -4 -5 -6 470.ROM" should work. When your done just turn off your computer take out the USB flash drive and boot the computer into Windows!

I was following the steps in the guide. In creating the bootable floppy, and then turning on "view system" files, the usb drive only has 3 files on it after the format

- command
- IO.SYS
- MSDOS.SYS

Any idea as to why the autoexec file isn't on there?

Hmm I have no idea why its not there. After you format it, try copying and pasting the autoexec file onto the usb drive that worked for a user above.

Did that and it looks to have worked. Tested it out and it booted to the USB drive. Of course it didn't find the bios filename as I don't have my 465 yet, but I wanted all of this built ahead of time so I can get rocking and rolling ASAP Tuesday when my 465GE shows up so I can make it a 470.

So now I have my bootable floppy and the BIOS I want to update the 465 to. Just gotta grab the NVIDIA driver package that I want to use and then copy off the stock BIOS when the card shows up and I'm good.

Thanks for this guide. +rep for you.

Noticed that you edited your post. Should I leave only the 3 files from above plus the autoexec.bat file? I'm guessing I don't need the other 15 or so files?

Correct I believe you won't need them because a poster above us had the same issue and just adding the autoexec solved the issue.

I was/am having the exact same issue as the poster above with the autoexec.bat not showing on my bootable drive. Thanks a lot to the both of you for trying to sort it out. I will try cutting and pasting JUST the autoexec.bat to the USB drive. Thanks guys
