Prime95 rounding error .. - Page 2

This error happens because your voltage on your cpu is not high enough and also your ram voltage isnt high enough. Thats what i learned through my own testing.

I would increase the cpu and ram up my .2 volts.

The cpu might need more but idk.
No offense, but this is bad advice. I dont want to be a dbag, but the OP's CPU core is already at 1.5V at stock frequencies. He has almost too much voltage.

the culprit is not likely the CPU (i have seen instances of faulty CPU, but rarely)

I would go to the Patriot Memory Forum and ask about timings for your memory. Mushkin Sean has helped me out on more then one occasion.

Allright, so Memtest crashed, always at 45 % ..

First, i set the ram to 2T instead of 1T. Then, i lowered the speed from 1600 Mhz to 1333 Mhz. Then, i loosened the timings from 7-7-7-20 to 8-8-8-24, but it still failed..

The memory is designed to run 1600 7-7-7-20 at 1.7V, as it has done for around six months now, wihtout problems. Maybe i'm just looking at an RMA ?

I was looking at your screenshot on the first page again;

Coretemp reports VID 1.3500, so this is the VCore that has been set in BIOS. However CPU-Z reads 1.496 VCore.

That is a big difference of almost 0.15v !

Have you even tried resetting bios? Reset and try again. I've sen buggy bioses which mess up voltages sometimes after an OC. Even if you did put it back to auto.

Yeah, i've cleared the CMOS, if that's what you mean. I've never flashed the bios, so i'm runnig the version that came with my board ..

I've contacted Patriot, but I have to ship the ram to the states, which is rather expensive. Considering just getting some new ..

Those 1.35V is called Cpu VDD in the bios, and 1.35 is the auto setting. There is a seperate setting for Cpu Voltage. Not knowing my bios very well, i've never figured out what the VDD does ..
