I would say i7 930 and 5870.

2 years ago I could have gotten a Q9550 and a 4870, but I got an E8400 and a 4850 to save a few dollars instead. A few weeks later I was hit with buyers remorse and wished that I should've went with my initial gut feeling of Q9550 and Radeon HD 4870.

I ended up getting the Q9550 and a second 4850 a month later, ultimately spending more money anyway.

My advice is to get the best you are able to afford.
Are you in the US or Canada?

All your gpu options are good. I would get the 5850 though. I go for price/performance.

I read the thread.

You want the fastest of the 3 to last you for 2 years. Which is the i7 930.

You say you will not do dual gpu, but a 5870 or anything in your options will not last 2 years.

getting an i7 860 will limit you to 16 pcie x16 lanes(i7 930 has 32 lanes).

Conclusion: I would go amd 1055t then bulldozer.

Hm. Yeah. I wouldn't mind saving a few dollars! But on the other hand, I am not gonna upgrade for yeeeears. So that money will be like "well spent".

Thanks for your opinion.

I do not know about the fastest. I do not mean to be rude, if you had read my thread I said what would be the best combination for my uses, does not necessarily mean fastest.

I won't even dual gpu in two years or three years. I have had a PC for three years and this has still lasted and I can still play a lot of games and do a lot of things on it without worrying too much. So yes I am 100 % sure it will last 2 years AT LEAST if not three.

AMD is not in the picture. They can come back when they do more quality products for their processors.

Getting the 980x is the only way to get fast and stay fast for years without overclocking.

That 4ghz should last you a year or 2, but Op wants it to last him that much time at stock clocks. I would think one wants the most out of their money.

The quote below made me lol.

Anyone got any opinion or advice?

I am getting tired of these trolls and wannabe experts trying to destroy this thread because AMD is failing and Intel winning.
