Remember, 470s drivers are in beta (pre-mature)....There is hope for a performance increase... So keep that in mind!
meh, contagion changes GPU's like underwear so what you said doesn't mean anything

however he did say that the GTX 470 was one of the best price to performance ratio cards around

Even though my 470 performs great in BC2, almost all reviews will show the 5850 doing better in that paticular game. So, if it is just that game you are concerned with, maybe a 5850 would be better for you. Although, I could see the 470 catching it in BC2 with future driver improvements. But, as it stands now, I believe the 5850 performs better in BC2.

Interesting...

GTX 260 SLI 30-60 fps (v-sync on) all settings on max, including 16Q aa and 16 af, 1920x1080 and hbao ON. Usually floats around 45-50.

The 470 was neck and neck with the 5850 when the 470 released, some reviews had it worse, some better, and some equal. With the newest 257.15 driver it is definitely equal or better.

Even Anandtechs review that had the 470 behind the 5850 when it first released now has the 470 ahead at 1920 and 1680. I think their 480 was broken or bugged though on that particular test.

I don't think I would buy a graphics card specifically for BC2 though. A few questions I would inquire about before making a purchase would be: Dual monitors? Tri-monitors? Folding? When will you replace this card next? Other game preference?

Multi-monitors goes to 5850, the fermi cards still idle a bit hot while in dual monitor and doesn't support tri-monitors. Folding goes to NVidia hands down. Depending on when the person will replace this card the 470 might be a bit more future proof since it has better tessellation. And depending on what games you plan to play in the future the extra 470 memory could be useful. I'd like to think that more/faster memory would really help with say MMO's where there are hundreds of people in different textures on screen, but I could be wrong.
