MSI Afterburner GTX 470 issues

Thread Starter
I just downloaded Afterburner 1.6.0 Beta 6, and the voltage slider can go up to 1.213v, but when I put it to that, it reverts back to 1.087v
Do I need to flash my BIOS to do this? I was going to anyway, but then I saw this and thought I didn't have to.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, you have to flash. Afterburner extends the voltage limit within itself to show higher than 1.087, but in order to actually utilize voltages above 1.087, you have to flash your 470's BIOS.

Unless you're going for over 820/825 Core 1640/1650 shader 1800/1900 memory, 1.087 should suffice for some reasonably high overclocks

Is that as high as you could get on 1087v?? You should easily be able to go over 850+ with that.

Yeah, that's really as high as I could go.

May I ask how you are determining this? Driver crashes? Artifacting?

I hate to say it, but if 730core/1800 memory is the most you can pull from 1.087...then you got a TERRIBLE card

If I bump up the core to 740, it artifacts then drivers crash, and if I push the mem past 920, it locks up my computer and I have to do a hard shut off.

I can't get 850 with 1.1 and my first card couldn't even get 800 with 1.087.

I love how people just assume everyone has cards that can clock to 900 core just because ONE person ran some benches that high.

Edit: and for the 19 millionth time... completing Vantage does NOT mean you're stable
