GTX260 Auto Fan Fails....

Thread Starter
Hey

So my 260 in my sig gets really hot,

It is at stock with auto fan

In game i was watching it via msi afterburner

50 degrees - 40 percent fan
60 degrees - 50 percent fan
70 degrees - 50 percent fan
80 degrees - 50 percent fan
90 degrees -50 percent fan
99 degrees -50 percent fan
100 degrees - 50 percent fan

Then i closed Dirt 2

The only way i can keep this thing cool is if fan is at 100 percent, but then it sounds like a plane, tim was replaced a few weeks ago

Any ideas?

Ty

i would check fan speeds should be over 4800 @ 100% could be a failing fan, also a reseat of the heatsink and re-apply the TIM, temps are way to hot.

auto is the devil, let my 275 get up to 82C before it started to spin up, i use custom fan profiles in MSI afterburner, solved all my auto fan problems. Now it sits at 50% until i game then goes to 70%

+rep, exactly what I needed. I had just been running 90% fan 24/7 because auto is terrible.
