I don't know how to check that but it is all on stock settings, nothing overclocked.

Hmm well I'd try giving it a little bit of an overclock so that the clocks sit 400/1000 at idle and see what happens there.

How can I overclock it?

Don't I need Catalyst Controle center(CCC) for overclocking? And in order to run CCC, I'd need installed drivers, wouldn't I?

Ok, a few basics you need, search google for gpuz, this will give you real time info on what clock speeds your gpu is running, this way if it crashes to desktop you can see if the 5970 is running at idle speeds or normal speeds, ccc should always be installed with the drivers, you need to make sure you have the latest drives when running a benchmark like 3Dmark.

so did you try what i said and manually upped the 2d clocks?

Ok, I would download msi afterburner and use that. You said it crashed after 15 min so thats plenty of time to mess with it. Use afterburner to bump it up to 730/1000 and then go into ccc's ati overdrive and vdo the same thing to the 2nd core. This is how I overclock mine so that at idle both core clocks sit at 400 mhz.

You need something to monitor your speeds so yea gpu-z is good to use.

I have GPU-Z now running(without gfx drivers). What's odd it tells me, that my card has 0MB RAM.

Woh something is not right. Your memory clock should not be 2500, there should be a lot more information under sensors, all your numbers are off and it says crossfire is disabled (it should say enabled). From this it looks like somethings up with the hardware.

Edit: It could be because your drivers arent installed, didnt see that caveat.

I would not take any chances.. XFX has a great policy of double lifetime warrentee so take advantage of it. Contact them and tell them.

But if you upgraded from another card.. Then you need to use that software that takes all the old driver stuff off your Hdd.. I would try that and then reinstall the newest driver from internet. IF that doesn't work then you have a 500 Rock and you need to trade it for something that works.
