DX11 vs. DX10 is it worth the money? - Page 4

dont do it! i used a single 8800GT and i was suprized how powerful it was! and you have two so ur good.
if ur satisfied, then dont upgrade! when they die or if they start laging, get a better card.
(wait for next gen cards! wait for HD6xxx and GTX6xx series if you want to upgrade)

my opinion its worth it, get GTX470 just to try it and if you like it you can get 2nd one to get more powerz if you won't you can sell it...easy

Your SLI 8800GT's will out perform most single DX11 cards so if you are not planning on getting dual DX11 cards..then I would just run the 8800GT's and wait for new gen cards when the time comes or when you need it.

No way isn't a GTX 285 much faster than a weak 8800 GT?

And my GTX 480 feels twice the speed of my GTX 285.

If he is playing games that take advantage of SLI then he should just keep the SLI 8800GT's but if he does want a DX11, I would get a single card that will out perform dual cards plus the good thing about that is they should run cooler, less power (ATI) and not all games take SLI.

Nope, I think you are just another victim of product marketing... My 8800gt has shown in several reviews that it can be faster than a GTX 280, look here. Just because they are old cards doesn't mean they still don't pack a punch. I can run any game I want in DX 10 on high....
That's where the problem comes in, because I'm used to playing in high FPS, I don't want to get some weak DX11 card, which means that I would have to spend $$$. So I will just wait until prices go down, I guess.

What? if anything 2 8800 GTS may compare to a GTX 280 dude

Not even close to even a GTX 470. I know because I came from a 8800 GTX to a GTX 280, then a GTX 285 then a GTX 480. Believe me 2 8800 GT are considered slow for some of today's games. At least for the settings I use. That's why I upgraded from my GTX 285.

Sorry for that I meant to say GTX 280. I know that the GTX 485's are monsters compared to my 8800GT's. I edited it.
