X-COM enemy unknown and terror from the deep were two of my favorite PC games in early 2000's. I spent hours upon hours looking for incredible open source projects that would have modernized the game. This project seems to me (granted based off of a single trailer) like an oppurtunity squandered.

What was wrong with the original? It was a fantastic game. Only thing i would do different from them (2k games) is yeah keep the FPS real time aspect, but make it so that it could be multiplayer co-op. For example, have a squad, 3-4 AI, you control (perhaps with a command issuing system similar to Mass Effect?) and for co-op play make it 2-3 player (6-12 sounds like a good number of soldier for a mission). Real time X-com vs etherals with your buddies over lan helping you combat these beastlys would be fantastic. Expand the research and production trees and boom, a classic revitalized and made in my opinion damn near perfect.

Hopefully 2k Games doesn't royally screw the pooch on this one.

My friend, that pooch has been screwed, knocked up, had the puppies, eaten them, and thrown them up already by the looks of the trailer...

I'm really looking forward to this.

I've read A LOT about it, apparently it's very, very deep, you still have to research and what not. It's not just another standard FPS

I think it looks interesting, i never played the original xcom games but obviously have heard about them. Not very impressed with the graphics though, the art style looks good, but graphics seem already outdated.

They've already had a few lame ones, won't be the end of the world. I just don't understand why they take a random game and slap the xcom name on it though.

Can't agree any more.

Looks like a cool game, but why the hell is it sporting the X-Com name?
