steam purchases

Thread Starter
Hey guys I bought a bunch of games on my pc for steam and i wanted to play one of them on my mac. I thought I read that if I purchased for my pc i can play the game on my mac as well.

The game I want to play is Tf2....has anyone else heard of this? If so where do I go to download it because it says I have to pay. Does it matter if my copy was a retail copy?

I have no idea about the Mac but TF2 is an epic game. Welcome to the TF2 family when you get it figured out

Can't help with where to download it, but no, you do not have to pay again.

I'd think that if you purchased it and linked it to your account, all you'd have to do is login to that account on your Mac and you can install it onto your system. Games you own that aren't yet installed should show up in a section in your Library titled 'To be installed' or something like that.
Worth a shot, no?

Also, it doesn't matter that it's a retail copy. Retail copy CD keys are entered into Steam and the game is installed either via disc or download. I've got a retail copy, and I can do either way if I want.

Well, some games aren't fully configured for Mac, but if it's saying you have to purchase it, I guess this one will work.

Some games you have to purchase for each platform, but some you can buy for both for the price of one.

It will have an icon that's rectangular and says 'SteamPlay' or something like that.

And/or it will have an icon that has a Windows icon and a Mac icon.
Something like this:

Windows + Mac Steamplay

Only Steamplay enabled games will work on both PC and Mac without having to purchase another version.

You can read about it here.

You should be able to just log into your Steam account from whatever platform and download the game, your TF2 license is automatically updated with Steamplay access.

It won't work with the CD I'm assuming because the CD was made for Windows. Just go to your Library on Steam (for Mac) and double click on TF2. It should start the download and you shouldn't have to pay.

It does work, I just did it earlier today.
